Why spooky, macabre, and offbeat puzzles?
Maddie works as a medical device engineer, and Hannah is a particle physicist. A lot of the topics we are interested in may not be suitable for traditional publications. Since we have both had puzzles rejected for being too morbid, we decided to create a space here for those puzzles. We think it’s fun to explore topics that don’t necessarily pass the “Breakfast Test.”
What is the “Breakfast Test?”
The “Breakfast Test” is the belief that the topics and words in a crossword should be appropriate to discuss at the breakfast table with your family.
Are any topics off limits?
While we will not shy away from exploring darker topics, we will absolutely not tolerate slurs, hate speech, discriminatory, or sexist language of any kind.
How often will you be publishing puzzles?
For now, we will release one 15×15 puzzle and one midi per month.
What is your vision for the blog?
We would like to raise some money so we can open submissions for midi and full size puzzles from other constructors.
